Year 6 pupils at Oare Primary School have achieved outstanding SATs results which are well above the national average. They celebrated the results and their last day at the school by filling a time capsule with memories of their time at the school.
The time capsule was placed in a dry stone wall being built by Stephen Hogg (a local stone mason), near Oare House. Stephen hopes that his wall will last at least two hundred years and so with this in mind, the pupils decided what to place inside the capsule.
Gudrun Osborn, Headteacher, is immensely proud of them and delighted with their SATs achievements. 93% achieved the expected standard in Maths and Writing, 86% in Reading, Spelling and Grammar.
She believes that the curriculum that Oare offers, which extends and develops the pupils growth, has played a large part in helping the pupils to achieve.
“We were delighted to be invited to place a time capsule in the wall which lies on our walk to our local church. The children have placed their own memories in the capsule, as well as wanting to ask questions such as: “Have you solved climate change yet?” This reflects our desire to create children who understand the world they live in, who ask questions, think for themselves and who most importantly care.”
