Last Saturday, June 17, 76 participants conquered three of the highest peaks in Wiltshire and raised over £8,300 for Youth Adventure Trust, an award winning charity. The charity helps vulnerable young people across Wiltshire through outdoor adventure and one to one support. The amount raised will provide funding for 15 young people to attend a 6 day Mountain Camp this summer, providing them with life-changing opportunities.
Organised by the Youth Adventure Trust, the Wiltshire 3 Peaks Challenge aimed to combine outdoor exploration and physical endurance with making a difference locally. Participants of all ages and fitness levels embraced the challenge, walking, jogging, and running through the breathtaking scenery of Pewsey Vale. The event not only showcased the natural beauty of the region but also highlighted the incredible resilience and determination of its participants.
The Youth Adventure Trust has been using outdoor adventure to inspire young lives for 30 years. During that time the organisation has run 11,114 hours of activity on the YAT Adventure Programme, facilitating 428,000 hours of activity participation – the equivalent of 39 hours a day, every day for 30 years.
Katie, aged 13, who has participated in one of the adventures said, “The biggest difference I have noticed is how resilient I am. I am more positive now and I keep on trying at things.”
YAT are honoured to have been announced the ‘Pride of Wiltshire’ in the 2023 Wiltshire Life Awards in recognition of their work in the county.
Mark Davey, Chief Executive of the Youth Adventure Trust, said, “We are thrilled to announce that the Wiltshire 3 Peaks Challenge has raised over £8,300, an incredible achievement that will make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people. This amount is equivalent to funding 15 young people to attend a 6 day Mountain Camp this summer, providing them with essential support, guidance, and opportunities to realise their potential. We are immensely grateful to all the participants, sponsors, and volunteers who have made this possible.”
The Youth Adventure Trust thanks all the participants, sponsors, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the Wiltshire 3 Peaks Challenge. Their dedication and support have not only provided a remarkable adventure but also paved the way for vulnerable young people to access life-changing opportunities.
