Eight places were selected as the best places to live in the South West in a survey just published in ‘The Times’ and Marlborough is one.
Described as ‘With its bucolic setting and sociable high street, ancient charms meet modern living in this wizard corner of Wiltshire’ The Times piece gives pretty good reason as to why we should all recognise that living here, isn’t too bad after all…..
Cirencester is selected as the ‘No 1’ location in the South West and Wadhurst (East Sussex) as the best overall in the Country but Marlborough’s acknowledgement as a ‘best place to live’ should reinforce just a bit of civic pride.
The piece highlights many of the attractions of our town: its location, history (King John and the Mound), the excellence of independent retail and refreshment such as Sound Knowledge, White Horse Bookshop and The Polly whilst also noting that superfast broadband will be on offer. And of course, The Parade Cinema.
Schools as well are noted. Marlborough College for sure, but also St John’s and Preshute Primary as being rated ‘Outstanding’.
And plenty more as well, all making a strong case for Marlborough as being a ‘best place to live’ – but something of which we are probably all well aware.
