Phil and Lisa from Waitrose presented the cheque: “Waitrose is really pleased to be supporting this worthwhile project. The community aspect is really important to us.”
Accepting the cheque on behalf of the project Katie Tilney said, “We are massively grateful to Waitrose for their support for this exciting local project. The Project Team of five have been working hard for eighteen months and £54,000 of the target £70,000 has been raised.”
Also accepting the cheque was Tristan Stevens, a Preshute Primary School pupil, who raised £290 towards the project from sponsorship when he participated in the White Horse Triathlon, Calne on May 4. Tristan and his friends are looking forward to the new play area.
The current Manton play area in the Jubilee Field was installed in 2002, is limited in size and is in need of upgrading and updating.
The Project aims to provide play equipment for a wider age range of children as well as providing sports and fitness equipment for older children, teenagers and adults. It is hoped that more picnic benches and shaded seating can also be provided to make the most of the space.
Manton Community Outdoor are grateful for all the donations they have received. If you would like to help or make a donation to this project please e-mail: mantoncommunityoutdoors@gmail.com
