The Samaritans shop in Curtis St, Swindon will be reopening soon and the team are actively looking for volunteers to support this vital fundraising activity at the heart of the community.
It’s not Marlborough, but Swindon instead, as the Swindon-based Samaritan team are there for anyone in need, be they in Marlborough or beyond. It’s their local shop for our community.
As a shop volunteer there’s lots to get involved with, including window dressing, working behind the till, sorting donations and talking to customers. No experience is needed – if you’re friendly, approachable, motivated and keen to learn whilst working with a great volunteer team – this could be perfect for you!
At the moment they are looking to open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from next month, starting 15 April with training available before this date. Samaritans are looking for volunteers who could offer a regular commitment between the hours of 09:30-12:45 in the morning or 12:45-16:30 in the afternoon on one of these three days.
If you’re interested, please click here for more details, or email: Swindon@samaritans.org as they would love to hear from you
As a Samaritans support volunteer said: “I’m pleased to be able to contribute to the work Samaritans does and to help take some of the pressure off listening volunteers”
All volunteers help to keep Samaritans going. They make it possible for us to be here for those that need someone to listen in times of distress.
