In the 2015 CPRE Wiltshire Best Kept Village Competition, Aldbourne came first in the Large Villages category, beating off competition from Box, Whiteparish, and Bowerhill.
And there was good news for Wilcot, near Pewsey, which came first in the Small Village category, seeing off competition from Ansty, Hankerton, and Bishopstrow.
The best Medium Village was Great Somerford, near Malmesbury.
All of the winning villages will receive an eight-foot standard with mounted shield to erect on their village green.
Award ceremonies will be held on Sunday, October 11 with CPRE Wiltshire’s president, the Lord Lieutenant for Wiltshire, Sarah Troughton, pulling away the Union Flag surmounting the shield. The finalists also win cash prizes.
