Pewsey’s Neighbourhood Plan has got the backing of residents who voted in Monday’s referendum (September 21).
To the question “Do you want Wiltshire Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Pewsey area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?” – 693 voted ‘yes’, with 47 voting ‘no’.
However, the turnout was 25 per cent – 740 votes cast out of a possible 2,957.
The idea of the plans is to give communities more of a say over future developments in their areas.
Last week Devizes’ Neighbourhood Plan was also backed in a referendum: 3,402 voting ‘yes’ and 369 voting ‘no’. The turnout in Devizes on September 17 was 22 per cent.
