Launched in Stratford-upon-Avon (where else?) Nick Fogg’s latest book is about – as the title implies – theatre in Tudor times. And, with the author’s knowledge, interest, or even passion for Shakespeare it will inevitably cover The Bard, along with the other great contemporary theatrical characters such as Marlowe, Burbage, Alleyn and others.

Nick’s book examines theatre across this period. The launch of The Globe – the first arena exclusively dedicated to ‘drama in England since Roman times’. And the dates in the title represent – and bookend – the first ‘golden age’ of British Theatre, cut short by the culture of Puritanism. Nick Fogg is an acknowledged expert on Shakespeare with many books already published and this latest work embraces that slightly wider context. Nick was elected to become a Fellow of the prestigious Royal Historical Society (RHS) ‘in recognition of his contribution to historical scholarship’, as reported here a few years back.
‘Tudor Theatre – 1576-1642 -‘ is prefaced by Sir Simon Russell Beale and features a beautiful cover design is by local designer and photographer, James Paterson.
