Traffic Chaos update: A346 (at Ogbourne) to be closed overnight today (Friday 11 April) and possibly tomorrow night as well?

More roadworks and road closures – this is for tonight (Friday 11 April) and tomorrow night – possibly. It’s not Herd St, it’s further long the A346 towards Swindon at Ogbourne Maizey.

Apparently it’s for surface dressing. However, there is – as is often the case – some lack of clarity regarding over how many nights the closure(s) will take place.

Firstly – it’s good that there is a sign giving us information in advance. But the sign by the Barn St roundabout states that the road will be closed tonight, whilst also stating ‘NO ACCESS TO M4 and SWINDON’ on Saturday 12. Maybe this does mean – only – the early hours of Saturday, or possibly it does mean Saturday overnight as well. The ‘one.network’ details state overnight tonight, ending by 07:00 tomorrow so maybe not tomorrow night.

Lack of clarity, assume that the A346 will be closed tonight at Ogbourne Maizey, but the following night – or other nights beyond – just be prepared to go a different route if the road is actually closed.
