The Elite Golf players at Marlborough Golf Club began the new season in great style last Saturday in the Scratch Pairs Invitational.
The competition format was scratch better ball medal and the pair of Iain Blood and Lewy Hayward (both pictured to the left of the above pic) won with a stunning gross 61 – 11 under par – winning by 7 shots from Dom Seaman & Paul Green who came in second with a gross 68.
We will all see less of Lewy up on The Common from later this year. Following his success in becoming European Junior Open Champion he is taking up a 4 year full golf scholarship at North Carolina State University in the USA starting in August 2025. He will however continue to play for Marlborough in the scratch leagues (when available) and intends to defend his club championship title in July.
