St Michael’s Primary School, Aldbourne has been invited by Wiltshire Music Connect to become a Music Mark School. Only schools that recognise the value of music education as part of a broad and balanced curriculum and have a strategy for music in place that provides for all children are nominated. Becoming a Music Mark Schools means St Michael’s will be given support to continue to develop music education within the school.
The Music Mark organisation offers access to training courses, news and events to help schools develop the music education work they already do. Music Mark’s vision is to provide accessible and excellent musical learning and engagement in and out of school, for all children and young people, which inspires and enriches their lives.
Jane Godfrey, Head of Music at St Michael’s School, said, “We are so proud to become a Music Mark School and to be recognised for all of the hard work the staff and pupils dedicate to making music such a key part of our education here at St Michael’s.
We are incredibly fortunate to receive support from our local community for our music curriculum, in particular the Friends of Aldbourne Band, who sponsor our brass ensemble here in school.
The additional support we will receive from the brilliant Music Mark organisation will help us to grow this further by gaining access to valuable resources and to musical inspiration that we can implement in school. Thank you Wiltshire Music Connect for nominating us.”
