It may be in late June but time to start training now. The fifth Savernake Fun Run hosted by St Katharine’s Primary School, will be run on Saturday 28 June and the organisers – the St Katharine’s PTA are calling for runners.
Last run in 2019 this time, as before it is open to the whole family with 10km and 3km distances available.
But a new course….. Starting from the picturesque hamlet of St Katharine’s, the course winds its way through some of the beautiful countryside around. And some that isn’t normally accessible. Organisers are keen to thank Mr Rokos of Tottenham House, and the Estate Manager and Security team from Tottenham House as well for permission to include these grounds on the course.
Whether a regular seasoned runner or a novice the variety will spur you on as you pass buildings dating back to the 16th century, ancient woodland, a deer park (where you may be lucky enough to get a glimpse of the resident herd of red deer) and viewpoints along the way that are to be rivalled by any other course.
With friendly marshalling throughout and water points, this is a fabulous adventure for all abilities. Unlike many other races, there is loads to do for non-runners and supporters too, with ice cream, tea and coffee, cake and the BBQ serving delicious bacon rolls and hot dogs.
As in previous years there will be a medal for every finisher of both distances. The 3k race is suitable for adults and children of all ages, we often have very young children taking part. The 10k is also open to children, but those under 16 must have an adult running with them.
The 10k race kicks off at 9:30am, with the 3k following at 11:00am. Entry costs £15 for the 10k run and £7.50 for the 3k, with all funds going to St. Katharine’s Primary School. Commemorative T-shirts are also available in all sizes.
Runners will need to register and this can be done April onwards but to register interest now e-mail: run@savernake10k.co.uk. There is an entry fee – £15 for the 10k run and £7.50 for the lesser 3k distance, and all proceeds going to going to St. Katharine’s Primary School. And as a reminder of the day, commemorative T-shirts will be available in all sizes
