“Practically overnight, my whole year had changed, every gig was cancelled” said Manton’s Ed Witcomb when explaining the inspiration behind his new CD which is being launched tomorrow, Saturday 15 August at Sound Knowledge in Marlborough’s Hughenden Yard.
“I’d been working on new material for some while, thinking about putting a new album together whilst going out gigging to get everything honed and as I wanted, but then the world stopped…
“I was by no means the worst affected but performing live is a huge part of who I am, so it was certainly a massive adjustment.” he added. “Not playing live drove me on to get the CD out as soon after lockdown as possible.”
Since lockdown eased, Ed has managed to do a number of socially distant performances outside the Emporium of Loveliness in Hillier’s Yard. “It was great to be performing live again after so many months off and to be able to share some of the tracks from my new CD.”
‘The Pen’ was recorded after lockdown at Nick Beere’s Mooncalf studio in Chiseldon, engineered by Nick and now finally pressed and ready to be picked up exclusively from Sound Knowledge.
