Charlie, a Year 8 Pewsey Vale School student, has had his artwork chosen to be part of the prestigious Royal Academy Young Artist Summer Show, which runs from 18th July to 13th August 2023. The piece will also be displayed on the Royal Academy’s online gallery from 18th July 2023 onwards. Charlie created the piece, entitled ‘Shoelace’, as part of a homework exploring portraiture. He created the work, as a 3D piece, by using his old trainer and manipulating it to appear like a portrait.
Nina Slater, Head of Creative Industries, said, “I am delighted to announce that one of our young artist’s works has been accepted for exhibition at the Royal Academy in London. We wish him every success as he continues his creative journey at Pewsey Vale School.”
This is not the first time a Pewsey Vale School student’s work has been selected for the exhibition. In 2019, a student’s GCSE textile work was chosen to be part of the first Royal Academy Young Artist’s Summer Show.
