Pewsey Vale School Open Evening aimed at students in Years 5 and 6 who will moving to secondary school in 2021/2 is going virtual. The school is running two virtual events, one on Tuesday October 13 and another at 6 pm on October 15. On Thursday October 22 there is also the opportunity to book a face-to-face meeting with a member of the Senior Leadership Team between 5pm and 7 pm.
Headteacher Neil Pritchard told Marlborough.news, “The traditional Open Evening where parents and prospective pupils tour the school and sample different activities just isn’t going to be possible this year. It would compromise our own school bubbles and primary school bubbles and put staff in a vulnerable position. However, we still want to show what our school is about and what we represent so a virtual open event is the answer.”
Neil Pritchard has been Headteacher at Pewsey Vale School for four years and he is keen to share the ethos and successes of the school. “This is an exciting time for the school. GCSE attainment has doubled and numbers on roll have increased. While we don’t want to lose our small rural family atmosphere where we know each student exceptionally well, we do have places for more students.
The Open Evening has always been one of my proudest moments as it gives us the opportunity to celebrate and to showcase the school. Although this year it is going to be in a different format I’m hoping that our students and staff will still be able to give an exciting true impression of all that we have to offer.”
The event on Tuesday October 13 can be accessed from the school website. It will start with a speech from Neil Pritchard and the Headboy and Headgirl, followed by a presentation of the school’s ethos, successes and vision for the future. Parents will also be able to click on all the different subject departments in the school and receive a summary and presentations from teachers and current students.
On Thursday October 15 a live Q and A session will be broadcast at 6 pm. Parents can send in questions which will be answered in the live broadcast by the Senior Leadership Team.
Thursday October 22 falls in half-term and since the school is shut there is an opportunity for parents and prospective students to book a face-to-face meeting with a member of the Senior Leadership Team between 4pm and 7pm. To make a booking parents should contact the school.
