“It’s a dead cert!” Said Jodi Schofield, landlord of Manton’s Outside Chance when asked if the opening date was to be Tuesday 17 December.
After nearly three months without a pub Manton’s residents can look forward to the Outside Chance’s doors being open again very soon. ”A great relief” stated Manton resident and MantonFest Impressario Roger Grant, and many others in and around the village have echoed this sentiment when hearing that the reopening was definitely on.
For Jodi and husband Mark the Outside Chance will be their third pub. Currently they are tenants (also for Wadworth) at The Bull in Theale – in their fifteenth year at this pub – and the Craven Arms in Enborne, a small village North of Newbury.
The new manager for the Outside Chance will be Anne Bucknall, currently managing The Bull, and she will relocate to live at The Outside Chance. When Mark, Jodi and Anne first visited the pub they fell in love with its character, charm and the village of Manton itself. When asked about the move West down the A4 Anne said ”We are very much looking forward to our move to the beautiful village of Manton and excited about our next adventure with the Outside Chance.
Jodi added: ”We will be looking at serving fresh food all day every day along with a sandwich and light bite menu. We plan on hosting events, live music nights, coffee mornings whilst working with the local community, as we do with the Bull and Craven. We are all very hands on and believe that great service is key and look forward to meeting everyone!”
