Councillor Lisa Farrell took the chair at her first full council meeting as Town Mayor (May 21) and called for the Council to welcome the public to its meetings.
In opening remarks to the assembled Town Councillors she said: “I am confident this will be a great year. I want to give the public the opportunity to speak at more meetings – to make them more welcome and to be more accessible.”
“We need the public and the community to be behind us.”
The meeting voted in new chairs and vice-chairs for its four committees and one sub-committee:
Planning: Chair – Councillor Andy Wilson. Vice-chair – Councillor Susie Price.
Finance & Policy: Chair – Councillor Andy Ross. Vice-chair – Councillor Guy Loosmore.
Property: Chair – Councillor Noel Barrett-Morton. Vice-chair – Councillor Guy Loosmore.
Amenities & Open Spaces: Chair – Councillor Mark Cooper. Vice-chair – Councillor Harry Forbes.
Staffing Sub-committee: Chair – Councillor Peggy Dow. Vice-chair – Councillor Mark Cooper.
