St Francis School, Pewsey, has appointed David Lee to the post of Headmaster, following the retirement of current Head, David Sibson, who held the post for 10 years. David Lee joins St Francis from one of the most successful British international schools in Asia, Garden International School, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he was a Deputy Head. He possesses a breadth and depth of experience which has been gained from working for 19 years in both state and independent schools in the UK and overseas.
Current Headmaster, David Sibson, commented, “David’s thoughtful and sensitive approach to bringing out the best in young people chimes with the values held dear by the St Francis community. David was an outstanding candidate with his strategic thinking, personality and, above all, his philosophy of education. He will build on the excellent foundations already established and he will be ably supported by the whole St Francis community.
The Governors are clear that the School needs a Head who will provide the drive and determination which is vital for further improvement, and we were particularly impressed with David’s energy, enthusiasm and his absolute commitment to taking the development of the School forward to the next level.”
On accepting the position, David said: “I am delighted to be appointed as the next Head of St Francis and it is a privilege to be joining a school with such a wonderful sense of community. I very much look forward to returning to an area my family calls ‘home’ and getting to know everyone in the St Francis family over the coming months. I will endeavour to build upon the considerable achievements of David Sibson and to further the School as a place that offers truly personalised care and education which supports each child to be their very best.”
David Lee grew up in Cornwall, represented his county in athletics and read Education at the University of the West of England. Bristol. He began teaching in Wiltshire before later completing an MA in Education at Bath Spa University.
During his career he has undertaken a variety of teaching and leadership roles including working at the British School, Jakarta and as the Deputy Head of Prep at Stonar School. David is married to Samantha, an experienced EYFS teacher, and they have three boys, James, aged 12, Thomas, 9, and Oliver, 2, all of whom plan to join St Francis as pupils in the New Year.
