Many in the Marlborough area voted Conservative in July last year. As they have done for as long as many have been able to vote. Did they vote for the Conservative Party? Or did they vote for Danny Kruger? Danny has now ‘jumped ship’, to cling on to the lighter blue shade of the right, probably hoping that he will be more likely to keep hold of his seat than if he stayed draped in the more ‘Royal Blue’ of his former Conservative Party.
Will there be a by-election? Will Danny have the courage to find out if this is what his constituents in East Wilts want, or are even happy with? Not a question that can be quickly answered but even while Labour nationally are experiencing their own problems, is Reform UK taking over from the traditional Conservative support here? That is a question that only Danny can answer by calling for a vote and giving the electorate that choice, so that those who either voted for him, or voted for the Conservative Party with him as their nominee can have their say and let us all know.
Do the residents of Marlborough who voted ‘Royal Blue’ in July last year want to be represented by a representative of Nigel Farage? That is the core question and only you, the residents of East Wilts in the Marlborough and surrounding area can say to Danny, ‘well done for joining Farage and his crew’, or ‘I didn’t vote for you to defect’.
We have asked Danny about his choice and his intentions regarding whether you, the electorate will have the chance to endorse his switch, or not. As yet, no reply…….
But Cllr Ed Rimmer on behalf Reform UK at Wiltshire Council commented:
“On behalf of the Reform UK group at Wiltshire Council, we are delighted to welcome Danny Kruger MBE MP to the team.
As Danny said in his speech this morning, the Conservative Party is over as a national force and it is no longer the main opposition to the left.
Danny’s experience will be invaluable as we look to form the next government, and we are delighted that he will head up the party’s new Department for Preparing for Government.
It is excellent news that Wiltshire now has a Reform UK MP and we look forward to working together.”
