Following the excellent ‘perfect’ season achieved by Marlborough Rugby, winning the league with an unblemished maximum points total (all matches won with all possible bonus points secured) has created an opening for Marlborough to qualify for the Papa John’s Mens Community Cup, the final of which will be played at Twickenham on Sunday 7 May.

But to reach that patch of lush green turf at ‘HQ’ Marlborough have got to win their pool (of four teams), then triumph in the semi-final on 29 May, and if successful – Twickenham awaits.
Saturday – against Chippenham, runners-up in the ‘Severn’ area equivalent of the South Central league in which Marlborough were competing. Two weeks later on 15 April it’s a trip down to St Austell, winners of the South West equivalent league, then to Gloucester on 22 April to take on Matson, winners of the Severn league.
If successful, the winner of this ‘small league’ of four teams will then proceed to the semi, and winner of that match – to Twickenham.
So come cheer Marlborough Rugby on The Common this coming Saturday, 1 April (it’s for real, no ‘April fool’), kick off 3pm.
Saturday at The Common will be a ‘double header’ against Chippenham as the 2nd XV will be playing Chippenham 2nd XV as well, kicking off at 2:30pm.
