Jennifer Almond is the new Junior’s Captain and she chose Julia’s House to be the recipient of the funds raised. Devizes based Julia’s House provides practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.
They work in the home, in the community and at the hospice to give parents time out with their partners, their other children or simply to catch up with day-to-day tasks, safe in the knowledge their child is being looked after by people they know and trust.
Over seventy members participated in the fund raising day. Teams of four competed against each other with the two highest scores in each team from each round being recorded. The winning team was led by Finn Mulvey, who at the age of twelve is one of the club’s young stars.
Richard Pickles is the Members Committee Chairman: “It was a fun competition. Members made voluntary donations to enter and there was also a raffle. Marlborough Golf Club holds quite a number of days in the golfing year when we donate money to charity. We usually donate around five to six thousand pounds per year.”
Junior Captain’s Day was a huge success and we’re pleased to be donating to such a worthy cause as Julia’s House. We are very proud of our wonderful Junior golfers who set a fine example to the rest of us in dedication, sportsmanship and good manners.”
