Here is a date for your 2016 diaries: the Marlborough Brandt Group is bringing Harriet Lamb (pictured right) director of International Alert to the Town Hall in March to give the 2016 MBG Lent Lecture.
International Alert works globally for peace: “We help people find peaceful solutions top conflict.” The title for Ms Lamb’s lecture will be: “To Bomb or Not to Bomb?”: That is the Wrong Question!
The lecture will be on Thursday, 10 March 2016 at 8.00pm. Entrance will be free – with a retiring collection.
Harriet Lamb was born in England, spent her childhood in India and studied at Cambridge and Sussex universities. She was director of the Fairtrade Foundation in the UK and then moved to Bonn to be director of Fairtrade International.
She is the author of The Banana Wars and other Fair Trade battles. Three months ago she was appointed to her new role with International Alert – the UK-based charity and NGO that was founded in 1986.
Her lecture will explain how the world should build the economic underpinnings that are essential for peace.
