The cycle ride takes place on Saturday May 23 and will pass famous London landmarks such as Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, Tate Modern and West End Theatres. Before setting out wearing bright pink high-viz vests, participants will be given a training warm-up at the 2012 Olympic Velodrome. Elaine will be providing Superwoman T-shirts for the team.
Dawn told Marlborough.news, “It’s such a good cause to raise money for. Everybody knows someone who has had cancer. I wanted to do this a few years ago but didn’t have the guts but now I’ve persuaded my colleagues to join me.”
“None of us are cyclists,” commented Jo. “Training has been hampered by the terrible weather and so we’ve not started riding yet. We’re looking forward to making good use of the Marlborough to Swindon cycle track and the coffee shop in Chiseldon!”
The four have, however, been busy fundraising for the event. On March 26 they are holding a charity curry night at the Jewel in the Crown in Swindon. Tickets are £25 pp for a set menu. A non-refundable deposit of £5 is required a week before the event.
The evening will include a raffle and they are also looking for raffle prizes. They are grateful to local businesses who have already offered raffle prizes but more are needed. If you would like to offer a raffle prize please contact elaine.glass@roydswithyking.com
