Earlier today Fermoie – Founders and Directors Martin Ephson (OBE), Tom Helme (OBE) and Commercial Director Jamie Shawcross were presented with the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise 2024 by The Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mrs Sarah Troughton. This most coveted commercial prize has been awarded to Marlborough’s Fermoie, a winner in the International Trade category in recognition of their excellence and high performance worldwide.
The presentation took place at Fermoie’s design studio, production facility and showroom in Marlborough’s Business Park.
Fermoie is a creator of fine fabrics, lampshades and accessories all designed and manufactured entirely in-house using its own proprietary colour-mixing and production techniques. All cloth is exclusive to Fermoie and made to the company’s specification, in line with its founding environmental commitments.
Fermoie received the Award after growing its export business by over 800% in just four years, through a strategy based on creating beauty in design and print alongside unparalleled customer service. It’s success is underpinned by its commitment to original hand-drawn artwork and unique colours, an innovative take on traditional printing, and the fact that all Fermoie fabrics are designed and made entirely in-house.
Established in 2010 by Farrow & Ball founders Tom Helme and Martin Ephson, Fermoie now employs over 50 people at its design studio, production facility and showroom in Marlborough’s Business Park and retail showroom in Pimlico Road, London.
Jamie Shawcross, Commercial Director told marlborough.news: “We were honoured to welcome the Lord-Lieutenant for Wiltshire, Mrs Sarah Troughton to our Studio and manufacturing site in Marlborough, Wiltshire for the presentation of our King’s Award for Enterprise. I am delighted to see the hard work of our teams recognised by the prestigious award. We’ve worked incredibly hard to build our company and develop our export business, which has grown eightfold in just four years. There’s a real appetite among international customers, particularly in America but also across Europe and further afield, for beauty in design and print. We’re delighted that our hand-drawn artwork, distinctive colours and beautiful fabrics, all manufactured entirely in-house here in the UK, have found such a receptive audience right across the world.”
