Elaine’s Travel was awarded Agent of the Year at the travel industry awards, sponsored by Carrier, at an Oscar styled ceremony held at the Natural History Museum in London last night, November 14.
Elaine told marlborough.news, “I was shocked. We knew we were nominated but we didn’t think we would win. We had some serious competition from big agents all over the country. It’s great to have the recognition from
the industry. And we’ve had so many well wishes from clients together with champagne and flowers.”
Elaine Ferry and Sarah Childs opened ‘Elaine’s Travel’ on Marlborough High Street just twenty months ago. Both have thirty two years’ experience of working in the travel industry.
“To have the support of our clients and the travel industry is incredibly overwhelming,” added Sarah.
“We wanted to do things differently,” explained Elaine. “People appreciate being able to receive personal recommendations and to sit and talk and have a coffee. We offer those booking special occasions a glass of prosecco. We can organise a private appointment outside hours, or even visit someone in their own home if they are unable to come into the shop.”
Sarah said, “The business has exceeded all our expectations. We had a five year business plan which we haven’t looked at yet as we haven’t had the time.”
“We are grateful to Marlborough as a town and a community for supporting us from the beginning of our project.”
