Marlborough Artists Heidi Nardoni and Becky Borthwick teamed up with The Parade Cinema to create and run a Creative Art Workshop for youngsters from the Marlborough Community Youth Project, which is managed and run by Councillor and former Mayor Lisa Farrell.
Free for all the participating students it’s part of the Cinema’s ongoing commitment to supporting local community projects.
Inspired by flowers and natural forms, the children first designed vibrant petals and shapes which were then combined into a large collaborative collage.
Heidi and Becky were there to support, show techniques but above all to create confidence in the young artists. Encouraging them to be bold with their brushes and use of colour, to let them create something that was theirs. All supplies were provided by the Art Department of Swindon’s New College.
Each of the youngsters also created an individual piece to take home, and the collaborative work will be on display in The Parade Cinema in the near future.
Becky and Heidi are both artists who display in The Parade Cinema, where much of the space in and around the bar and foyer area is there to display local artists’ works.
