1000 twinkling candles will turn Marlborough’s secret garden into a magical celebration of the winter solstice on Dec 21st. The Plume of Feathers garden, hidden behind houses and the old Post Office on London Road, accessed from Kelham Gardens will be open from 6-8pm on Dec 21st, weather permitting.
The garden is owned by Marlborough Town Council but leased to the Richmond Fellowship, a mental health charity. The garden has long been an ongoing source of wellbeing in the community and is looked after by Richmond Fellowship volunteers, local neighbours, volunteers from Seasalt and Pewsey scouts.
Danny O’Donoghue, from the Richmond Fellowship, told Marlborough.news, “After the success of our winter solstice evening in the garden last year we’re looking forward to repeating it, this time with a 1000 candles. There will be a brazier and mulled apple juice. Admission is free; we will have some donation buckets.”
The event is weather dependent but Danny says unless it rains or snows heavily the event will go ahead.
