For the last two years Emmanuel Church, Marlborough has run the popular Car Park Carols and nativity at the town’s Tesco store. This year the Christmas celebration moves to the Recreation Ground off St Margaret’s Mead on Sunday December 11 at 4pm.
The short outdoor, all-age carol service will be followed by children’s craft activities and refreshments, including mulled wine (for adults), mulled apple juice and mince pies, inside the Marlborough Youth and Community Centre.
Emmanuel’s Pastor Reuben Mann said, “Car Park Carols brought the community together during lockdown to celebrate Christmas in a socially distanced way. With restrictions lifted, the church is looking forward to getting people out of their cars and singing carols together in the open air at the Rec. Do come and join us. Dress warmly, bring a torch and prepare to sing out.”
The Rec was also the venue for a successful fete organised by Emmanuel Church in June this year to celebrate the late Queen’s Jubilee.
Emmanuel is also holding a Carols by Candlelight service on Sunday December 18 at 5pm at Christchurch, New Road, Marlborough, where the church meets every Sunday. Christmas Day will also be celebrated there with a short service at 9.30am. All are welcome to both services.
