The list of candidate standing in the three Divisions here – Marlborough East, Marlborough West and Aldbourne & Ramsbury has just been published by Wiltshire Council.
The three sitting Councillors (all Conservative) – Jane Davies (Marlborough West), Caroline Thomas (Marlborough East) and James Sheppard (Aldbourne & Ramsbury) are all standing for re-election, but in Marlborough East, current Town Mayor Kym-Marie Cleasby will be contesting the seat on behalf of Liberal Democrats against Caroline Thomas.
It’s political. Every candidate is representing a party, no Independents. Local Conservatives, Liberal Democrat and Reform UK candidates are contesting all three Divisions, with one Green Party candidate (Aldbourne & Ramsbury) and one Labour Party candidate standing in Marlborough West.
The lists of candidates are – by Division, and in alphabetical order:
Aldbourne & Ramsbury:
Jackson, Ben | Liberal Democrats |
O’Farrell, Charles Gerald | Green Party |
Sheppard, James Henry | Local Conservatives |
Stephenson, Aurelia Margaret Amherst | Reform UK |
Marlborough East:
Cleasby, Kymee | Liberal Democrats |
Goldson, Nicholas James | Reform UK |
Thomas, Caroline | Local Conservatives |
Marlborough West:
Baldock, Neil Michael | Reform UK |
Davies, Jane Frances | Local Conservatives |
Jamieson, Parvis | Liberal Democrats |
Lang, Oliver James Alport | Labour Party |
We – Marlborough.news would never promote one candidate over any other. We will be producing an ‘Election Special’ very soon, which will give each candidate standing the opportunity to say why you should vote for them. If some don’t respond, then conclusions can be drawn.
All we would say is that each winning candidate should be the representative of Marlborough East, Marlborough West or Aldbourne & Ramsbury in Trowbridge. NOT the Trowbridge representative in either of these Divisions, as each candidate, if successful will be representing us, individually and collectively. They are the Marlborough area community representatives in County Hall, Trowbridge.
Elections will take place on Thursday 1 May, and at the same time there will be (may be?) elections to the Marlborough Town Council as well, depending on how many candidates are declared to be standing.
