‘Open For Business’ – the third album by local blues band Barrelhouse is being launched on Saturday 15th November at St Peter’s. Local Barrelhouse may be, attracting a big and loyal following here and elsewhere in this country, but claiming a far bigger number of Spotify, BandCamp and other streams and downloads in the home of the Blues – America, and also Mid and South America as well. Big the world over but here, on Saturday a chance to hear ‘Open For Business’ before anyone in Kansas, Panama, Lima, or even in the Philippines. They will get their chance on Sunday 16th…….

Free to all and a chance to pick up a pack of CD and Vinyl, at a special launch price, otherwise it’s Sound Knowledge from Sunday onwards.
‘Open For Business’ was recorded, engineered and produced by Nick Beere at his ‘Mooncalf’ studio in Draycott, Chiseldon as were both the previous Barrelhouse albums – Mooncalf Blues and Mainline Voodoo.
Recorded almost completely in a single day it’s a mix of Barrelhouse written new material as well as covers of classics such Lennon & McCartney’s ‘Come Together’, ‘The Weight’ by The Band or Muddy Water classics such as ‘Mojo Working’ and ‘Can’t Be Satisfied’.
“It’s a mix” said bass Stuart Whant. “There are some tracks that we really wanted to cover, the two Muddy Waters ‘Mojo Working’ and ‘Can’t Be Satisfied’ and the classic ‘Come Together’, but also ‘On The Road Again’, which was almost recorded as a live session. It was great” he added. And half of Open For Business’ is new Barrelhouse material, created by the band, for the band as that’s how they work.
‘Open For Business’ launch, St Peter’s Saturday 15 November at 7pm
