They are the UK’s leading supplier of products and services to the rural community, and their successful formula is likely to create a significant landmark in Marlborough with their new 5,000 sq ft Countrywide store.
It is based on the industrial site at the junction of George Lane and Figgins Lane, next door to the Mobility Centre, and will have a staff of five under manager Mike Silk.
“Countrywide Farmers is the major player in agricultural and equine supplies,” Mike told Marlborough News Online. “We can offer great bulk deals at very competitive prices – free delivery on orders over £300 – all backed up by highly skilled, specialist individuals who know rural life and business and can be trusted to give sound advice. I think that will be highly valued here in Marlborough.”

“We know the area well, the needs and interests of the local rural and business community, and believe Countrywide has a lot to offer. Our new store will specialise in equestrian and agricultural products for rural business customers.
“It will bring together expert advice with competitive prices for bulk items such as feed, bedding, seed and fertiliser to name just a few. Customers will also find work wear and safety clothing such as high viz jackets, boots and wellingtons, equestrian clothing, hat and body protectors along with a wide range of products for pets.”
The Marlborough store will be offering a personal service for equine businesses with a specialist able to visit any yard, stable or business to supply their needs.
Angela Molson, who was among 700 applicants who applied for the new posts of part-time sales assistant and driver, will be the equestrian account manager.
“This is such an exiting time to be joining Countrywide Farmers in Marlborough,” said Angela. “My job is both a tremendous challenge and opportunity.
“I’m really looking forward to visiting all the equestrian businesses in and around the area.”
A new feature, an in-store kiosk with a touch screen monitor, will allow customers to view and order from more than 14,000 products online direct from the store. They can also take full advantage of advice from in store experts, including AMTRA qualified specialists who are able to offer advice on animal health.
