Councillor Jerry Wickham has decided to resign as a member of the Wiltshire Council cabinet. He announced on Twitter that this was “…due to worsening of my Advanced Prostate Cancer…Enjoyed great times with the team of hardworking genuine people.”
He added: “I’ll stay on as Ethandune councillor until I’m unable to do the role.”
Councillor Wickham has been Cabinet member responsible for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Pubic Protection. He is also chairman of the Sponsoring Board for the Sustainability and Transformation Partnership that covers Wiltshire, Swindon and Bath & North East Somerset and is shaping NHS care across that area.
Jerry Wickham turned to local politics after a career with the police – he spent many years based at Marlborough police station.
