Wanborough Tennis Club (WTC) has been appointed by the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) as an U10 Performance Centre following a rigorous selection process The programme will be led by the Club’s Head Coach Becky Watts, assisted by her husband, Neil Watts. Neil, a former World ranked tennis player is also Head Coach here at Marlborough Tennis.
Wanborough Tennis Club is the only club in Wiltshire to be appointed and one of only 13 clubs in the whole of England and Wales. Under the programme the LTA is tasking Becky and the Club to identify and develop players between the age of toddler to ten years old to compete at a national level. Becky has already had a couple of champions in the U10 national category and coaches numerous players who play for Wiltshire County.
Becky, 34, was born and bred in Wanborough and started her coaching career in Swindon aged 17. She played in her first tournament aged 10 and since the age of 11 has represented Wiltshire County.
This prestigious appointment recognises Becky’s outstanding coaching and the club’s commitment to developing young players. It also reflects the strength and success of the club’s talented junior members.
Tim Thurston, Chair of WTC said: “This is a significant achievement and a huge endorsement of both Becky’s outstanding quality as a coach and the strength of our club. Becky’s dedication to developing young players has been instrumental in creating an environment where children can thrive and reach their potential.”
The two-year programme begins in September and will raise the profile of both the club and the village, creating new opportunities for young players across Wiltshire while supporting the club’s continued growth and development.
