Entitled ‘George and Elizabeth’, the programme is music by British composers including music that was played at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Tickets are £10 and available online here or in person at Great Bedwyn Post Office or The Little Lunch Box, Pewsey.
Under the baton of Musical Director, Chris Anderson, the orchestra and choir was formed last September and has already performed two near sell-out concerts. Chris told Marlborough.news, “We are excited to bring you our Spring concert which will be held in the delightful church of St Mary’s in Great Bedwyn. The programme includes some quintessential English music, some of which doesn’t get heard very often. The finale of the concert is Handel’s Music For The Royal Fireworks, which has been specially arranged for the group.
Other orchestral pieces include works from Elgar, Walton, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Eric Coates, George Butterworth and Peter Maxwell Davies. The choir will sing William Byrd, John Redford, Benjamin Britten, Charles Standford, Henry Walford Davies, William Harris and Samuel Wesley.
If you play an instrument or sing Stand Sure Orchestra and Choirs are always welcoming new members. The new term starts on May 1st. We’ll be working towards ‘The Glory of Gershwin’ concert, taking place in July.”
