A Planning Application – PL/2022/01618 – has now been submitted to create the training pitch area on The Common, to be used by the younger members of Marlborough Rugby and the Marlborough Youth Football Club teams.
This follows the agreement to proceed made by the Full Town Council at the December ’21 meeting.
The Council decision followed a long process, involving consultation where the majority of respondees were in favour of moving forward with this training area, an ecology report was undertaken and whilst some of the costs will be borne by S106 funds (monies raised from developments in the town for social and community infrastructure) and from the two clubs involved.
The two not-for-profit volunteer clubs – Marlborough Rugby and Marlborough Youth Football Club – together have approximately eight hundred boys and girls on their books, representing the clubs in many competitions. Space for training (and matches) in Marlborough is at a premium so this additional training area represents a much needed facility.
