Students at Pewsey Vale School have taken part in a Mission to Mars – without leaving the comfort of their classroom.
The BBC Live Lesson was an introduction for Year 8 pupils to the BBC micro:bit devices that they will be receiving later in the year.
The lesson combined computing with mathematics, physics and biology, they had the opportunity to explore key scientific measures including speed, acceleration, reaction times, temperature and moisture, and how those factors are instrumental in an astronaut’s work.
Students particularly enjoyed the Bloodhound SSC section of the programme following their visit earlier in the year and the presenter even shared a tweet from the school about the project.
The BBC:Microbit is a computing device that had been provided for every student free of charge by the BBC and their partners to encourage skills in computer programming.
