Report of the November monthly meeting of Textiles & Stitch Around Marlborough
The November meeting was held on Zoom when the Textile Artist, Bobby Britnell spoke to the group about “My Creative Journey”.
After leaving school Bobby’s first job was making glamorous theatre costumes and after a few years in industry she trained and went on to teach at a secondary school.
In 1986 she moved to South Shropshire, taught City & Guilds Design courses and got involved with school and community projects. Bobby then went on to talk about the Moor Hall Studio where she offers a great variety of textile and art related courses.
During a visit to Uganda Bobby set up project for the local community which included basketry, making brooms, mats and making bark cloth. This experience has inspired a lot of Bobby’s work.
The Christmas meeting of Textiles & Stitch Around Marlborough will be on Monday 6 December, 2021 at Kennet Valley Hall, Lockeridge at which there will be a surprise speaker.
