Marlborough Open Gardens, organised by The Merchant’s House took place last weekend on Sunday.
A very successful day, well over 200 people turned up and both the cake stall and plant stall sold out…!
This year it was much later than normal so the colour and floral make-up of the gardens was different to that of the normal June date, but different doesn’t mean any less spectacular – just at a more developed stage of the cycle.
Covid dictated the later September date this year but – as noted above this didn’t affect the popularity of the day nor the spread and beauty of the gardens on display. All helped by some very welcome decent weather, something that has been in short supply this summer, but has maybe helped the plants to create better displays than would otherwise be so in a dryish Summer
A very popular and well-attended day, and to quote from some of the visitors who turned up:
“lovely to see gardens in a different season, different plants and flowers to see”
“really special afternoon”
“I’ve picked up some ideas for my garden”
“A lovely sociable afternoon, meeting different people as you go round each garden”
