The shadow COB (for Community Operations Board) will design and organise consultations for Marlborough Area’s campus project which is Wiltshire Council’s multi-million scheme to make better use of their buildings and improve the delivery of services.
It was announced at the Marlborough Area Board meeting (May 20) that the board membership is complete except for one member: a representative from the area’s villages. This person need not be a parish councillor, but will be someone who will give the rural perspective on the plans.
Under the chairmanship of Nick Fogg, the members are: Richard Allen (Marlborough town councillor) – Richard Clarke (Marlborough Area Development Trust) – Milly O’Connor (a St John’s Sixth Former, supported by Jan Bowra from the youth service) – Shirley Prior (former chair of Transition Marlborough, with Alexandra Wax as her alternate) – Karen Davis (Chief Financial officer at St John’s Academy) – and George Hale who used to farm in the area and has since had extensive commercial experience including in the property business and works for the Kennet Valley Arts Trust.
The Area Board chairman, Councillor Jemima Milton, told the meeting: “It’s important the campus is not just about Marlborough, but is for the whole area. Some COBs have outreach schemes to their villages.”
