At Tuesday’s meeting of the full Town Council (24 April) Cllr Nick Fogg raised the issue of ‘coke pipes’ being on sale from a stall in Marlborough’s regular High Street market, and he was particularly concerned not just about the availability of such drug-taking equipment but that these pipes were being sold to anyone, irrespective of age including young teenagers.
“I was approached by a citizen, this is anecdotal” he stressed, “who said that there is a stall in the market selling ‘coke pipes’, if you know what they are”.
Mayor Lisa Farrell stated that she was also aware of this, having been contacted by numerous “very irate” St John’s parents and that she had already spoken to the representative in charge from Wiltshire Council (the Market is run by the Council), who confirmed that the person operating this stall will be asked to leave.
Cllr Fogg thanks the Mayor for her intervention and action in dealing with this problem.
