Following our report about the Marlborough Town Council meeting last month at which the use of Coopers Meadow for grazing sheep was discussed and voted on, the Leader of Wiltshire Council Councillor Jane Scott has issued this statement to Marlborough News Online:
“A representative of the town council asked me at the end of last year if I would look into the ownership restrictions and possible Community Asset Transfer of Coopers Meadow to the Town Council. I looked into the issue and asked officers from Wiltshire Council to get in touch with the Town Council to discuss the process for Community Asset Transfer. At no time did I discuss the implications of this, or the usage that the town might want for Coopers Meadow, and I have no personal views on the subject.”
