Search teams looking for missing man Robert Dunn have this afternoon (June 8) found a body in Savernake Forest.
Although formal identification has not yet taken place, police have spoken to Mr Dunn’s family to inform them of the news.
Searches had been continuing for Robert Dunn who had been missing for over a week.
The 30-year-old was last seen by his family in the Marlborough area on Wednesday, 29 May 2019. A van which he had been renting was found near Savernake Forest. At this time there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances.
In their statement Wiltshire Police said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Dunn’s family and friends at this very sad time and we would ask people to respect their privacy.”
Large teams of specially trained officers, police dogs, and members of Wiltshire Search and Rescue had been carrying out searches in the forest: “We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeals for information and the 200 volunteers, including Lowland Search and Rescue, Serve On, Support2Ops, Raynet, Wessex 4×4 and Rapid Relief teams, who assisted with the joint searches over the past week.”
