The Prospect Hospice in Wroughton, which serves the Marlborough area, is organising a fundraising dog walk on Sunday, May 18 – five sponsored miles through the countryside around the town.
Owners need to sign up to take part. Registration costs £8 and participants are asked to set a fundraising target of £80 – which is a very reasonable £16 per mile.
This new event in the Prospect’s fundraising calendar gives the Marlborough area a chance to raise funds now that the annual Night Walk has moved away from the town.
“Sunday Walkies” has already attracted some enthusiastic owners. Emma Deck from Pewsey will be taking her “very energetic” terrier Myrtle: “Prospect Hospice is a good local charity, which I have been happy to support in the past, and this looked like a really fun event to take part in.”
Emma and Myrtle and, it is hoped, many others will gather at Marlborough Cricket Club. Check-in will be at 10.00am so walkers can set off at 10.30am. You can register now at the Prospect Hospice website.
