Sirs
I was surprised to read David Chandler’s opinion that to describe someone as ‘authentic’ is not a compliment. So I looked up the meaning of ‘authentic’ in two dictionaries.
Collins English Dictionary: ‘accurate in representation of the facts; trustworthy; reliable’ .
Webster’s New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition: ‘can be believed or accepted; trustworthy; reliable’.
OPPOSITES: ‘spurious, counterfeit, sham’.
Readers will make up their own minds which of the two leaders in this election is most authentic and best suited to be Prime Minister.
