Sirs
I am astounded to read of Marlborough Town Council’s decision to remove the free parking from the High Street.
They seem to have given priority to the cafes and restaurants, without any concern for the many other local businesses, who surely are the ‘lifeblood’ of this town.
Why was there such little discussion with these business owners, who stand to be greatly affected by this decision? With no quick and easy parking, will anyone bother to frequent them anymore? This will surely lead to many more empty shops and be the downfall of our historic town centre.
This decision will also affect many of our elderly population, who rely on their cars to get into town to use our many local shops and businesses.
I really cannot see how this decision is going to benefit anyone In Marlborough except the hospitality outlets and hope that the Town Council will reconsider this to keep the whole town booming again.
Yours,
Graham Davies
