Pewsey’s smallest pub (and maybe Wiltshire’s as well?) – The Shed Alehouse is now serving the Pewsey and surrounding area with deliveries of landlord and brewer Gordon Edwards’ own award winning beer as well as cider and other brews, all in the smallest possible delivery van – ‘Sheddie’ the Tuk Tuk.
The Shed Alehouse has become a popular and very busy part of the Pewsey community and the recent lockdown left regulars (and occasional visitors) without somewhere that would always provide a warm welcome as well as a pint of Gordon’s highly regarded brew.
The use of the Tuk Tuk as a brewers dray came out of an idea after friends and regulars asked if there was any chance of a delivery – and ‘Sheddie’ the Tuk Tuk was there and as Sam, Gordon’s wife explained “the Tuk Tuk was the obvious delivery machine”.
“We bought the Tuk Tuk in November 2018, it was imported from India half built and then finished to UK specifications. We had it wrapped in wood to reflect The Shed! His name is Sheddie, just before we drive off we shout Ready Sheddie Go! Yes we are mad!” added Sam.
“We deliver up to a 5 mile radius on a Friday and Saturday evening” said Sam, adding that orders can be made by e-mail to: shedalehouseorders@gmail.com and payment made by Bank transfer.
Whilst the Shed itself is still shut for lockdown, the windows are getting very busy with rainbows to show support for the great efforts of the NHS staff. Sam and Gordon asked for rainbow pictures which are adding a bit of welcome life to the otherwise empty Alehouse premises.
“So far the response has been amazing” said Sam, “The initial trial sold out very quickly”…”It’s proving a great way of keeping in contact with our regular customers whilst the Shed is in Lockdown”
