We’ve been alerted to an e-mail being circulated that appears to be the from NHS asking for donations towards the ‘purchase of medical equipmet and supplies’, and more (see above). We’ve asked contacts within the NHS if it is genuine and the replies have all been that it is a scam. It is a well-presented scam, it appears authentic and but is likely to be just another device for criminals to extract money from the well-intentioned public. Our advice would be to ignore it, bin it and not attempt to reply in any way.
There are lots of e-mail scams around, (probably most e-mails received are either dodgy or an outright scam) but this one looks real as well as touching on a very relevant subject, and could appeal to many of us who want to give the Health Service as much support as possible at a time like this.
There will be lots of similar messages coming through via e-mail and Social Media, always best to ignore unless the authenticity of such message can be established conclusively.
