World-famous Cambridge choir to perform in St Mary’s, Great Bedwyn

Prepare for a memorable summer concert of choral music, sung in a Wiltshire village by a leading choir in the historic surroundings of an outstanding English church. The King’s Men Cambridge will perform at St Mary’s Church, Great Bedwyn, on Sunday 14 July, presented by the Friends of St. Mary’s Trust.
Led by the Director, Matthew Supramaniam, the a capella choir’s seven singers will sing a range of favourites designed to please all musical tastes. The diverse programme will feature The Silver Swan, The Oak and the Ash and The Wild Rover and, following an interval, I Get Around, God Only Knows and Here, There, and Everywhere.
The King’s Men is the close-harmony group formed from the choral scholars of the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge – famous for the broadcast of A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on radio each Christmas, and its companion programme, Carols from King’s, on BBC television. Functioning separately from the main choir, the group performs regularly around Britain, and has performed in North America, Australia and China.
“We are delighted to have secured this wonderful, talented group of close-harmony singers whose heritage stretches to half a millennium,” said James Flecker of Friends of St. Mary’s Trust. “Their electrifying concerts have thrilled audiences around the world so it will be marvellous to see and hear them perform in our village. The feedback to our concerts is almost always very positive.”
The Church of St Mary has been at the heart of life in Great Bedwyn for over 1,000 years. All proceeds will go to funding further work on the church.
