Joint CEOs Artistic Director Paul Hart and Executive Director Claire Murray, and the whole team at Newbury’s The Watermill Theatre are thrilled to announce that it will be holding The Watermill Family Fete on Sunday 14 July from 12noon – 4pm, offering traditional summer fair activities such as a tombola, hoopla and coconut shy, alongside circus themed catering and music, celebrating the site takeover of its summer musical Barnum.
Local independent businesses will be in attendance, selling jewellery, baked goods clothing, alongside plants and homemade cakes provided by the Watermill community, and the popular Duck Race returns!
Claire Murray, Executive Director at The Watermill Theatre commented, “The Watermill is a theatre for everyone and a place with the joy of play at its heart. We’re so excited to welcome families to this unique, fun-filled celebration of music, circus and local produce in our beautiful grounds this summer. All the proceeds from this fete will help us to continue our work with and within the local community, helping to reduce social isolation, building confidence and developing communication skills.”

The Family Fete will serve to further The Watermill’s fundraising efforts in its first year as an unfunded, independent theatre.
The Watermill are also relaunching their popular Name A Seat campaign – providing people with the opportunity to join Craig Revel-Horwood and other supporters of the theatre by naming a seat in the 200-seat auditorium after themselves or a loved-one. Plaques remain on the seat for five years, and prices start at £150.
