Jack Wills to open new outlet in Marlborough

Preppy outfitter Jack Wills is to open a new outlet in Marlborough tomorrow (Wednesday).

The store will be the brand’s 76th in the UK, and its second launch of 2017. It will be opening in the Grade II listed building vacated by independent home decor trader Charlotte Quest last Spring.

It will be the brand’s first foray into Wiltshire, not including the concession at the Designer Outlet in Swindon.

There will be an official launch event on Saturday, May 20, with complimentary G&Ts, courtesy of Jack Wills’ partner Salcombe Gin.

CEO and founder Peter Williams said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be opening our latest store in the stunning market town of Marlborough and hope that it will add a premium shopping destination to the rustic charm of the town’s High Street.

“The opportunity to open a store in a great property and such an iconic location was simply too good to miss.”

The first Jack Wills shop opened in Salcombe in 1999, and was named after the grandfather of the founder, Peter Williams.

Heavily marketed towards university students, Jack Wills’ products are branded with the signature logo of a pheasant with a top hat and walking stick.

Its fashion line includes formal wear including shirts, tweed jackets, and blazers, and a sporty line inspired by polo, rugby, and also rowing.

Its business model has included opening in towns and cities with public schools – including Eton, Oxford, Winchester, St Andrews and now Marlborough, the shop is a stone’s throw from its £35,000-a-year public school, Marlborough College.
